Common Linnet (Carduelis cannabina meadewaldoi)

Other names: sillero, linacero, llorón.  This is a very gregarious bird. It is common to see groups of them coming together in the autumn with a great noise to sleep in the trees. They have an unusual and characteristic undulating flight. They feed mainly on seeds although they do not reject certain invertebrates. From April to July, they nest in all kinds of shrubs. They build their nests from dry grass and moss. They lay from three to six eggs, which the female incubates. This is a subspecies which is endemic to the Canaries.
