Barbary Partridge (Alectoris barbara koenigi)

A bird of some 33 cm. At a distance, it is easy to mistake it for the common partridge, although its colour is paler. From closer, it can be distinguished by the chestnut collar that it has and its breast in bluey-grey. It lives on mountainsides covered in low woodlands and areas with little vegetation but with water and places to shelter. It is a subspecies present in the Canary Islands and in northwest Morocco.
