Bracken (Pteridium aquilium)

A fern from the family of the Hypolepidaceae, which is cosmopolitan, widely spread over extensive areas of the planet. It reaches a great height of up to three metres in areas that are suitably lit. It proliferates above all in well-lit, inland areas, in clearings and srcubland that have been degraded after fires. The rhizome was used in the form of flour for feeding the Gomeran population in times of famine.
