Ivy (Hedera helix)

This is a perennial climbing plant, common to moist areas of the woodland, spreading along the ground and climbing up the trees. Its very green and brilliant leaves have a hard texture and are very variable in appearance depending on the quantity of light that they receive. The flowers are very much appreciated by flies and wasps as they produce a large quantity of nectar. The tough stems are full of dark-coloured little roots that they use to adhere to their vertical supports.
