  • Introduction

This year, the Seminar held at the CENEAM facilities in Valsaín (Segovia), with the participation of 44 people from 15 different Autonomous Communities. For the first time, a person from the Autonomous Community of La Rioja, coming from the University, has come to this Seminar and also a representative of Environment Ministry of Valencia Community. Moreover, it has also incorporated five representatives from National Parks: Caldera de Taburiente, Sierra Nevada, Timanfaya, Ordesa and Garajonay, and others, such as Cabañeros, have not been able to attend the Seminar because of work commitments, but they have expressed their interest.

We had the presence of two experts, José Antonio Merlo from Salamanca University, to deal with Web 2.0; and Patricia Riera, from Open University of Catalonia, with the topic of intellectual property. In both cases, there was also a practical workshop.

In addition, we have been working in working groups: electronic bulletins and user orientation for digital information services. We also presented the beta version of the RECIDA portal and established some guidelines to follow.

    • Conclusions and preparation for the next Seminar.
  • Conclusions

On the last day of the Seminar, it revised the conclusions for the last Seminar:

    1. Objectives planned in 2007 and achieved:

    • Create a website with its domain.
    • Create an Advisory Committee of specialists to improve the Seminars and strengthen the network.
    • Facilitate ongoing training for RECIDA members.
    • Extend RECIDA to a greater number of Centers.

    2. This year, the following actions has been decided to carry out:

     - Proposals to be carried out in a short term:

    • Edit RECIDA pamphlet. The pamphlet has not been printed for the Seminar because there have been many changes recently, and some websites of various Ministries have not yet defined, so it did not seem reasonable to print it now.
    • Website diffusion
      - All RECIDA members will have a report and a presentation in PowerPoint for each Center to use according to their necessities. They discussed the possibility of using these tools in Communications and Congress. Moreover, it requests the Centers to use them in their versions and updates. As of May 2008, 74 Libraries and Documentary Centers from 15 different Autonomous Communities are on the network.
      - We will try to write articles in specialized journals, present communications, papers and posters about Documentation and Environmental Conferences. We will presentate a poster soon at the Europarc Congress (Baiona, from 18 to 22 June 2008). It also proposes to present it to CONAMA at the Cities of Volcanoes Congress (Tenerife, November 2009) and the IUCN Congress (Barcelona, October 2008).
      - Jesus Tramullas comments on the occasion of the suggestion of a round table on environmental information and Documentation for the next Spanish Conference, which will be held in Zaragoza in May 2009.
      - It will aso draft an annual report of actions.
      - Register RECIDA in Wikipedia.
    • RECIDA website. Jesús Tramullas from Documentation Department from the University of Zaragoza suggests the following schedule: two months (June and July 2008) taste the beta version and in September migration to the definitive version. For this purpose, they will provide each Center with an access key.It also offers administration and technical maintenance until 2010.
After discussing how content was contributed, individually per Center or with the management of two Administrators, the majority preferred the first option.
Rosario Toril (CENEAM) y Montse Grabolosa (P.N. Garrotxa) will be in charge of elaborating a form to be filled in by all the Centers to create a specific node in the Portal. That will allow us to know in more detail the different Centers.
Work will do in a shared way, wherever it is possible.
    • Participate in European projects. CENEAM plans to work on European projects, so we request the interest of the Centers relating to this topic. To bring these projects about the contact and the promotion of exchanges with other European Environmental Centers will be necessary.
    • Antonia Bernardino from Regional Ministry of Environment, Water, Urbanism and Housing. Generalitat Valenciana will do a summary of Environmental Information Law.
    • Susana Fernández from Investigation Center for the Peace will facilitate information on how to make a Society to study the possibility of RECIDA becoming an Association.
    • Check each Center if one of their purposes is the investigation, considering that Jesús Tramullas from University of Zaragoza comments that it can offer project financing help for this type of Center.

    - Proposals to carry out in a half term:

    • Drawing up an Annual Action Plan.
    • Develop a practical manual as a basis for the operation of our Documentary Centers.
    • Convert CENEAM into an Association.
    • Develop a directory of electronic resources.
    • Initiate Moodle courses to continue with workshops.
    • Analysis of the economic and personal possibilities for sharing Infosud QuestionPoint.

     - Proposals to carry out in a long term:

    • Seek funding for RECIDA projects.
    • Participate in Librari@ns without frontiers projects.

    3. Next Seminar edition

Jacinto Prieto from Igurugela Center from Bilbao will present the proposal to hold the Seminar in the Basque Country. Mª Angeles Puga García, from Environmental Planification Center (CEPLAM) Las Palmas commented on the possibility of doing the Seminar in the Canary Islands. Both will communicate the results of their efforts.

For the following editions, they show an interest in doing the Seminar in CIDA (Information and Environmental Documentary Center) from Castilla y León and in Regional Ministry of Environment, Water, Urbanism and Housing. Generalitat Valenciana.
