Law 24/2013, of December 26, on the Electricity Sector, provides in article 10 that the activities for the supply of electric energy that are developed in the electric systems of non-peninsular territories may be subject to a unique regulation due to the specificities they present with respect to the peninsular system.

In this way, the aforementioned Law 24/2013, of December 26, establishes that an additional remuneration concept may be determined to cover the difference between the investment and exploitation costs of the electricity production activity carried out in these territories and the income from said production activity.

Royal Decree 738/2015, of July 31, which regulates the electricity production activity and the dispatch procedure in the electrical systems of non-peninsular territories, develops this additional remuneration concept, as well as the procedure for settlement of the generation cost applicable to all production facilities in these territories.
